The 28-year-old, who can play in midfield and defence, admitted he had been approached by Luton over a permanent move ahead of the two club’s Skrill Premier clash on Saturday.

Speaking to the press this afternoon, Still said: “Yes we did speak to him and we liked him, but at that time we couldn’t really do anything, it’s just how things worked out.

“He can play a few different positions which tugged us a little bit and was something we looked at, and looked at quite strongly, but we didn’t really feel that at at time, we could pursue it.

“He’s played centre midfield for them, played centre half Saturday, he is by trade a right back, so it shows you the areas he can cover,

“He will obviously want to win on Saturday, but he’s a good lad and I like him.”

Speaking to the Tamworth Herald, Courtney, who has played in the Championship for Burnley after a £25,000 move back in 2005-06, said: “It was flattering that Luton were interest in signing me.

“They are a huge club. I see them as a League club really. But I decided to stay at Tamworth and have no regrets.”

“I guess there’s an extra incentive to do well this weekend though but I think all the lads will be up for it.”
