Town admit interest in Charlton defender Doherty

HATTERS have admitted they made tentative enquiries about bringing former favourite Gary Doherty back to Kenilworth Road, writes Mark Wood.

Doherty is currently with Charlton Athletic, but has only played five times for the League One side this season.

The Addicks have reportedly received a number of loan requests from League Two clubs for the 31-year-old centre-half and Town boss Gary Brabin revealed Luton had also been in contact over the former Republic of Ireland defender.

He said: “There’s a little bit of truth in it. We know Gary’s a Luton boy.

“There was an injury crisis and we went to see if he fancied it.

“It never went any deeper than that.”
