Town had been trailing 1-0 at Princes Park with just eight minutes to go, before wonderful goals from Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Andre Gray snatched victory.

Luton now just need three wins to secure a return to the Football League, ahead of upcoming home games against Aldershot, Tamworth and Braintree.

Striker Andre Gray said: “If someone told me at the start of the season, with six games to go, 13 points clear, three home games and we need three wins, I don’t think you could ask for much more.

“As you’ve seen when we played Woking though anything can happen.

“We’re playing Aldershot who are fighting for their lives, Tamworth who are fighting for their lives and Braintree who are flying now.

“They are three tough games, it’s not easy, we’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing and give it that little bit more now.”

On the victory at Dartford, which kept Town 13 points clear of nearest rivals Cambridge, Gray continued: “It takes us that little step closer now. We just need to get over that line and we can do it in a week.

“We don’t need any bigger incentive than that.

“We just need to keep going, we’ve got three good home games, so we need to get the stadium packed out, the fans behind us from start to finish and just get over the line.”

Fellow scorer Ruddock Mpanzu appreciated the importance of the midweek win, especially as Cambridge triumphed 1-0 at Macclesfield Town.

He said: “It’s good that we’re top of the league by 13 points, so we’re going to keep the distance from Cambridge.

“If we keep going, keep winning, then nine points is all we need, so the next three games are important to us.

“Aldershot is not going to be an easy game, but we’re going to keep grafting away and hopefully get the three points and keep moving up.”

With Town so close to the title, first team coach Hakan Hayrettin wants his side to utilise a cup final mentality for the final push, adding: “Every game we play now is a cup final.

“They’re (Dartford) a good little outfit here, they’re fighting for their lives. It was proven a few days ago, Palace beat Chelsea, it’s no different to us.

“We emphasised that to the boys, go out and relax and do the best that you can.

“But this is Luton Town, I didn’t know how big this football club was until I turned up and everyone wants to win.

“The composure the bys have shown in the last 15-20 minutes to win that game of football was very professional.”
