Taylor reserves special praise for Hatters fans

A rollercoaster season was made bearable by Town’s supporters according to departed left-back Greg Taylor, writes Mark Wood.

The 23-year-old’s emotions veered all over the place as, dropped one minute he then enjoyed FA Cup success, which was followed by public humiliation and ultimately crowned with Conference glory while on loan at Mansfield Town.

But whenever he did play, the former Darlington man was warmly received by Town’s fans, while he also received moral backing from team-mates, especially Alex Lawless, Stuart Fleetwood and Dean Brill.

He said: “That was a big positive for me. That kept me going through times of the season, when I was left out or when the manager said something about me in the press, which happened quite a few times.

“To know that the fans did appreciate what you did on the pitch did kind of see me through some of the stuff that was being said about me.

“Their backing was fantastic and I can’t thank the fans enough for it.”
