Taylor eyes a recall for Millwall clash

The 23-year-old was part of the team that beat both Wolves and Norwich in previous rounds, but was dropped after a mistake against Barrow cost his side the winning goal.

He was part of squad at Dartford on Tuesday night though, coming off the bench in the second half, and with Steve McNulty, Simon Ainge, Scott Neilson and Dave Martin cup-tied, plus Lathaniel Rowe-Turner still suspended, there is every chance he could be involved.

Taylor said: “I think quite a few are cup tied, I have been included in the squad for the last few games, so all I can do is concentrate in training and hopefully that will see me involved.

“It’s a big opportunity for people who haven’t been involved and if they do well, the gaffer can put his trust in them and play them.”

Speaking about the draw itself, although not quite the tie everyone was looking for after winning at Carrow Road, Taylor knows Town will be a tough test for the Championship outfit in front of a baying home crowd.

He continued: “The first thought was you want one of the big teams away, home would be nice as it’s not a nice for teams to come and play here.

“We proved that against Wolves, here, with the fans behind us. The fans are always unbelievable here and I think it’s going to be a very hard place for them to come.

“It’s very difficult to come to play a team from a lower division. We find it when we go to teams lower than us. It’s a potential banana skin.

“We’re more than capable. We showed it against Norwich and Wolves. We’ve got the ability.”

Town’s league form has dipped badly since the Carrow Road triumph, but Taylor is still confident they can rectify that on the big stage.

He added: “So many things you could put your finger on. It’s not my job to be saying this, that and the other. I’ll leave that to the management team. We just get told our instructions and try to carry them out.

“It’s a completely different type of game you get in the FA Cup against a big team than you do at your Dartford’s away. Our league form hasn’t been the best, but we’ve just got to go for it like we have done previous two games see where it takes us.”
