Taylor determined to tie down left back slot at Luton

VERSATILE England C international Greg Taylor is hoping to finally tie down a position after being signed by the Hatters on Thursday, writes Mark Wood.

Born and bred in Bedford the 21-year-old defender has joined to fill the void left by Freddie Murray as the result of his long-term knee injury. Taylor has initially joined on loan from Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Darlington and will sign an 18-month contract in January when he will join permanently for an undisclosed fee.

On how it came about, he said: “It came as a bit of a shock to me as well. On the Tuesday morning I went into Darlington to be told Luton had put in an offer for me. Then my agent kind of dealt with the situation and I was coming down on Wednesday.

“I know what Luton is to the surrounding area. It’s a big club. It’s just nice to come home more than anything really.

“I would like to nail down a position, I haven’t had that in a quite a while. The gaffer said he was bringing me in as a left-back and I’m more than happy to do that.

“I like playing full-back and the left-hand side is more my favourable side.”
