Sweet: Replacing Brabin the only option

HATTERS managing director Gary Sweet admitted Town’s slump in form had left them with no option but to sack manager Gary Brabin, writes Mark Wood.

Without a win in seven games and out of the play-off places, Brabin’s position had become untenable despite having previously had the board’s full backing.

Sweet said: “I think if supporters had their way he would probably have been gone at Christmas.

“Frankly if the players had their way he would certainly be here and here forever. They were fully behind him.

“The board, who are incredibly important because they put in as much money as supporters do into the football club to keep it going, also have a valid vote, which generally gets a little bit split because we are all supporters ourselves.

“We can feel it, it hurts when things don’t go our way.”
