Sweet: It’s our biggest game ever

HATTERS’ Wembley play-off final against York City on Sunday, May 20, has been declared the biggest game in the club’s history by managing director Gary Sweet, writes Mark Wood.

Victory over old rivals the Minstermen would return Town to the Football League after three years in the wilderness of the Conference and the club are urging everyone to get behind them.

Luton took over 40,000 supporters to Wembley three years ago to see them beat Scunthorpe United 3-2 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final and Sweet is hoping another massive following can roar the Hatters on to victory.

He said: “It’s the most important game in Luton Town’s entire history.

“Not just financially but about reward and rewarding the people that have stood by the club.”
