Sweet: Fans abuse was unacceptable

HATTERS managing director Gary Sweet has urged Town’s fans to unite behind the club this season, writes Mike Simmonds.

Sweet was present at Ebbsfleet last Tuesday where he witnessed player coach Paul Carden barracked by a section of fans after his surprise selection.

Writing in his programme notes ahead of Saturday’s clash with Gateshead, Sweet said: “The way in which we dropped two points was not the most disappointing thing about Tuesday night.

“For those who were not present Paul Carden was astonishingly singled out and booed by a significant element of Luton Town supporters almost every time he touched the ball.”
