Sweet clears up Willmott exit

HATTERS managing director Gary Sweet has confirmed that winger Robbie Willmott was offered less money than he was previously on to stay at Luton, writes Mark Wood.

The former Cambridge midfielder took to Twitter last week to express his disappointment about being in the dark over his future, but Sweet told the Luton News, all negotiations had been done via Willmott’s agent.

He also confirmed why they would not receive a fee for him despite only being 22.

Sweet said: “Robbie’s agent did all his dealings. The club needs to make an offer to the player within a certain time frame for no less than that player was on previously. We did not do that.”
