Striker leaves Hatters

STRIKER Tommy Wright has been released by Luton Town after his contract expired, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 27-year-old signed on a short-term deal in October, but despite scoring on his full debut at Grimsby, he only managed one further start.

Wright scored three goals in six appearances and is now training with League Two Port Vale.

Town manager Gary Brabin said: “Tommy has now left the club, his contract was up and it’s through no fault of his own.

“He had a short-term contract to try and show us what he’s capable of.

“We’ve certainly seen what he is capable of, he’s an honest lad and he’s scored three goals in his two starts.

“He did himself no harm, but like I said to Tommy, we couldn’t afford to get him fit, we needed him here and now.”
