Still remains confident goals will come for his Hatters team

Hatters boss John Still is convinced that the goals will start to flow for his side depite yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Grimsby Town at Kenilworth Road, writes Mike Simmonds.

The stalemate means Luton have now scored just five times all season, with only one coming from open play, and haven’t netted a first half strike in any of their seven games so far.

Still said: “I’m disappointed as I thought we played really well. I thought that was the best we’ve played first half, we were terrific, we just need the goals to go in don’t we.

“We’ve got to add that but I think Paul (Benson) as he gets fitter will add that. He’s played very well.

“One area of our game that I thought let us down a little bit, I thought our crossing was up and down, not consistently good.

“I’m as frustrated as a lot of people as we’re doing enough to win games and I think win them reasonably comfortably. If we keep working hard and the players are of the quality that I know they are, that will follow.

“It’s really important that the structure of our team is good. We’re getting to the area of trying to become the best team, at the moment I think we’re making great progress.

“We have players in our team who can score and it will fall into place.

“I’m disappointed we’re not taking all three points, but if I can keep the team playing in this manner that will follow.”

One negative point on the daywas the half time substitution of defender Alex Lacey, who once again gave a hugely impressive display at centre back alongside Steve McNulty.

Still added: “He twisted his ankle, but we don’t know how good or bad that is at the moment.”
