Town ended five long years in the Conference earlier this month when they were crowned champions in Still’s first full season in charge.

Speaking about the achievement, Hatters’ manager said: “To be part of a team that has given the club its dignity back and respect back, I’m really, really proud to have helped them do that.

“There’s a story attached to this with how the club was relegated, the enormity of what has gone on here is unbelievable.

“I actually feel that all of those people that have felt the club was wronged, I’ve helped right that wrong.

“That gives me a very, very, very special feeling and it’s probably as big as I’ve done professionally.

“What we’ve done here is recreate this club as I did feel there was resentment when I came, I felt an anger, a malaise.

“It was like it’s (promotion) not happened and we shouldn’t be here.

“I feel I’ve been part of a group of people that have reinvented the club and become new Luton.

“That was the old Luton with everyone angry and disappointed and all of a sudden the sun’s come out.”

Still has now become a hero to Hatters fans, who sing his name proudly at every opportunity and the boss believes Town’s rightful place was always back in the Football League..

Meanwhile, the former Dagenham & Redbridge manager always knew he would be charged with getting the club promotion in his time at Kenilworth Road, but admitted it came sooner than he exected.
