Still not anticipating further signings for now

Town boss John Still isn’t expecting to make anymore signings before the end of the season after the addition of full back Scott Griffiths this week, writes Mike Simmonds.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge defender had been the player Still was chasing for recent weeks, and now the deal is completed. the Luton chief may well wait until the end of the season before rejuvenating the squad.

He said: “I don’t envisage anything else this year, although I don’t know if there’s anything else that might come up.

“I’m really planning for next season though, everything I do has next season in mind. There’s going to be some more incomings, but quite a few outgoings.”

On Griffiths, who has been handed squad number 37, Still said: “He’s as good as you’re going to get and I think he was happy to play for me, because I think he feels he can get to where he should be.

“He needs a couple of weeks, but he can use this bit of time to get fitter, get a program for the close season and then when you come in for pre-season you should be flying and between now and then, a proper deal will be ironed out.

“I just wanted to get him in like Solly (Solomon Taiwo). They’re two players who are proven quality. He had a great time at Chesterfield, did really well there when they got promoted.

“Once we get them properly fit for next season. we’ll see the best of them.”
