Still looking to extend deals for Mawson and Davis

Davis has made eight appearances for Town since his arrival, but Mawson has been restricted to 45 minutes after picking up an injury during his debut in the 5-0 win at Alfreton, although he has been a regular on the substitutes bench.

Both players’ deals are up on Saturday as Still said: “We’re travelling (to Lincoln) early Friday, so in my mind I’ve pencilled that in to talk it through over the weekend.

“I’ll look at our injuries, it’s possible that we’re probably going to need a couple of loans here, so possibly we’ll be going that way if their clubs allow it.

“I’ve been a bit sorry for Alfie as he’s come in and started, but then picked that injury up and missed a bit.

“Joe’s come in and not really put a foot wrong. It was tough for him, because we’ve started with Alfie in front of Joe as I just felt that was the way to go.

“But he picked that injury up, it was just really Joe had come in and the team’s been winning.

“The combination between him and Macca (Steve McNulty) has been okay, better than okay, so I’ve not really changed anything.

“That doesnt mean to say we don’t think Alfie can come in and do a really good job, so that’s something we’ll look at.”

Although Town don’t have any more injury worries defensively, the likes of Anthony Charles, Andy Parry and Alex Lacey won’t be ready for Saturday’s trip to Lincoln.

Still continued: “They were all training today. (Solomon) Taiwo, Lacey a little bit which was good.

“Parry, Charles, (Jon) Shaw, so they’re all picking up their fitness levels.”

The boss is hoping that all bar Lacey will be able to play in a development game against Reading on Monday, if the Royals can find a place to stage the match.

With Kenilworth Road out of bounds due to the recent deluge of rain and Barnet game, Still added: “We want to play all the ones in that, Lacey won’t I wouldn’t think, but we’ll try to play them if we can get it on.

“The sun could come out for six days and we aren’t going to play that game (at Kenilworth Road).

“We may move it there (Reading), that’s what we’re trying to do.”
