Still hopes Town trio find new clubs

Hatters boss John Still admitted it’s time that transfer-listed players Scott Rendell, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner and Arnaud Mendy left the club, writes Mike Simmonds.

The trio were made available for a move at the end of last season, but with a few days left until the transfer window shuts, are still yet to find new teams,

Speaking to the press this afternoon, Still said: “There’s been little tickles. What about this? What about that? Little tickles, but nothings that’s been hard and fast.

“But D-Day is arriving and when D-Day arrives, people do stupid things and the old domino effect can fall in can’t it.

“One goes and they all go. It’s good to be talking about who may be going from here because all I’ve listened to over the past few months is (Luis) Suarez, (Gareth) Bale and (Wayne) Rooney, every single day.

“Well the next few days, I think we’ll be talking about other players. Hopefully there’ll be a little bit of movement.

“We’ve got some good players available and to be fair to the players, it’s good for them to find somewhere.

“Scott Rendell is a fantastic lad. He’s really impressed me with his attitude and I really feel for him.

“It was a very difficult time for him last year with personal problems and maybe not producing his best form.

“I’d be really happy for Scott and would love something to happen for him. Snoop (Rowe-Turner) as well. They’ve trained properly, done everythig right and it would be nice for those two and even Arnaud Mendy.

“He slipped up here when I came, but it’s time for him to go and for all of them. It would be good if they get something that’s right for them, I’d be really happy.”

Still admitted that with the striker injuries he had suffered recently, recalling Rendell, who scored Town’s winner in the FA Cup at Norwich City last season, might have been an option.

He added: “It wasn’t that it didn’t cross my mind, I’ll be quite honest with you, but I actually thought let’s get to the transfer window before we decide anything.

“One of the reasons was if something happened (injury) then for him and for us, it could cause us a long term problem.

“Although Jon’s (Shaw) not been 100 per cent, he’s played and Mark (Cullen) has played.

“So we haven’t been short short there. We turned up a bit short on Monday, but if it was ongoing, it would be something we’d have to look at.

“But I’m hoping that Paul (Benson) and Alex Wall getting somewhere near the standard that we want, it isn’t something we need to worry about today. But this is football, who knows what happens.”
