Still happy with Hatters’ favourites tag

Town boss John Still didn’t feel under any extra pressure after Town were once again made favourites to win the Skrill Premier title this season, writes Mike Simmonds.

The Luton chief said: “As a manager I don’t worry about whether we’re the favourites, or where we are.

“The season that Dagenham got out of the Conference, I think we were about 40-1.

“I wouldn’t like to hazard a guess to what we were to get into Division One, but we did.

“I know it’s normally the bookies that have got most of the money, so they don’t get too much wrong, but they do get it wrong.”

Still himself just couldn’t disguise his enthusiasm about the season opener too, adding: “I can’t wait for Saturday’s game.

“Training, I love that, but it’s the games. When the season ends, you all want a break, but after two or three weeks, you want football again.

“It’s been a long break this year and I’m really, really looking forward to it.

“It gives me something I can do, I don’t do a lot other than football and music.

“It’s been a long summer and I’ve got a bit bored with music, so I can’t wait for the games to start.”
