Still ecstatic as Hatters earn a point at Chester

Still said: “I don’t know how many away games that’s been, but to go through them unbeaten in the league is brilliant.

“When I look at the fixtures, you think there’s going to be one away fixture where you don’t do as well, but we haven’t had one, so I’m delighted with that.

“With the run of games and everything in context, I’m absolutely ecstatic as it would have been easy not to get something.”

The game kicked off 15 minutes later after Town’s coach was stuck in traffic beforehand due to a road closure, as Still said: “We’ve not had the best day with the travel and the road being closed, getting here late and started late, but the boys responded fantastic.

“They’re (Chester) hanging around a bit as well, so the first 10-15 minutes for both teams can be awkward, you never know how that’s going to work out.

“They’ve had a go which everyone does when they play us, but we overcame that, went 1-0 up, but they deservedly got back into the game.

“I thought we looked a touch tired in the first half, but not so second half.

“The second half we responded brilliantly and put in a really good performance.”

Town took an early lead through Andre Gray’s seventh goal of the season, before Chester hit back with Gareth Seddon netting from distance.

Luton could have snatched victory, only to be denied by a number of superb blocks from the hosts’ defence, marshalled impressively by former Premier League player Danny Higginbotham.

Defender Scott Griffiths thought he had nicked the points too, but saw his thunderous drive deflected to safety by team-mate Mark Cullen as Still added: “They’ve had four great blocks, Scott Griffiths’ one too, everyone was saying it was goalbound, but it hits Cully.

“I’m not disappointed though and I thought Scott Griffiths was absolutely outstanding for us.”
