The Reds were soundly beaten 5-0 in front of their own fans back in December as Luton produced a stunning performance.

Still said: “They’ve had a very good season. We played some fantastic football in the first half at Alfreton, but I don’t particularly buy into revenge stuff.

“We got beat up at Wrexham, but I never looked upon the next game as revenge, or the cup tie (Hatter won 2-0 in the FA Trophy) as revenge.

“We’re never going to get those points back, it’s gone. I just wanted the team to go out and play like the team could play.

“If someone hammers you and you go and beat them and say that makes up for losing, it doesn’t.”

After watching Town’s 5-0 hammering of Wrexham on Tuesday night, Reds boss Nicky Law joked he may well play a 1-9-1 formation to try and halt Luton’s charge to the title.

Still was less convinced Alfreton would alter tactics that had seen them climb to a superb fourth place this year.

He added: “If you’ve been reasonably successful at doing something, why change? That’s just me.

“I don’t know what they’re going to do, but from our point of view, we can’t worry about that.

“We have a way of playing that doesn’t change whoever we play. However they come we’ll have to try and counteract that.

“I don’t know if they’ll try to do anything different than they would normally do.

“Sometimes if you change to accomodate someone and you go a goal down in a few minutes, all the stuff you’ve done will go out the window.

“I would expect Nicky Law to set his side out to play in the way they normally play, but I may be completely wrong.

“As I say, I don’t have an influence on that, I just have an influence on us and I just want to continue concentrating on us.”
