Hatters boss John doesn’t feel there is any need for drastic changes to his side after Monday night’s surprise 1-0 home defeat to Woking, writes Mike Simmonds.

The loss was Luton’s first in the league for over six months and Still was more than happy to show faith in the players who had taken Hatters to the verge of the title against Chester on Saturday.

He said: “Whoever you are, you’re going to have a result that you’re not happy with.

“We’ve had a result we’re not happy with, the last time I had a result I wasn’t hapy with was away to Wrexham.

“If I’d been playing and played in 20-odd games and put in good performances and didn’t do so well the other night, would I expect to play? I think so.

“I’m a great believer in this team ethic, someone has been doing a job for the team and for whatever reason has a bad day.

“That’s life, it happens, we all have a bad day. You hear the saying sometimes you have a bad day at the office, it’s as simple as that.”

With the run now ended, Still hadn’t done anything different during training leading up to tomorrow’s fixture, and preferred to highlight what a superb achievement his players had managed.

He said: “I just crack on. I spoke to the players and I don’t know what they expected me to say, but I said, that run’s over and if I’m going to put it in a pocket, that pocket is, it’s been unbelievable.

“We’ve had an amazing run, broken a club record, I don’t know the next time that will be beaten.

“I’m immensely proud of the run they’ve been on, immensely proud they’ve got us to the position we’re in the league and immensely proud that we’ve come through probably the worst winter that I can remember for weather and pitches.

“They’ve overcome everything that’s been put in front of them.”

On the test that struggling Chester will bring to Kenilworth Road, Still continued: “Woking came here the other night and looked like one of the best teams that’s come here.

“They’re in a good bit of form, all credit to them. Chester will come, we’ll have to work hard and battle hard, but we have tough games every week.

“If you want to be successful you expect to have tough games, but we’ll be ready for it.

“To get anything out of it we’re going to have play better than we did on Monday evening.”

Still also praised the fans for their efforts during Town’s huge unbeaten sequence, adding: “One of reasons our run was so successful, particularly at home was the crowd have never deviated.

“Whether we’ve played well or things haven’t been going well in a game, we haven’t scored early, the crowd have got louder and louder the longer the game’s gone on.

“They were the other night and at the end of the game they were fantastic. I think they were apprecative that the club’s had this remarkable run, in the same way that the players were appreciative of the support they’ve had to help us had this run.”
