Still confirms Drury enquiry

Drury, 30, spent eight months at Kenilworth Road in the 2010-11 season, making a huge impression on the Town faithful with some eye-catching displays.

He scored a wonder goal against Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup, before moving to Championship side Ipswich Town for £150,000 in the January transfer window.

Drury left Portman Road for the Red Devils permanently in June 2013, netting five goals in 46 appearances last term.

Still said: “We have enquired and we’re waiting to see what the situation is.

“We thought it would be something that if it could work would be a good signing for us, but it’s down to Crawley really.”

Crawley boss John Gregory appeared to pour cold water on the deal though as he told the Crawley News: “I’ve heard the rumours but I’m not sure Andy Drury would want to drop down to that level.

“There’s been no contact and nothing offered.

“Really it’s a compliment to Crawley Town that people are talking about our players.”

That wasn’t the case according to Still, who confirmed Town would have to pay for Drury’s services, as he is still under contract for another year.
