Still bewildered over failure to overturn Wall’s suspension

Hatters boss John Still couldn’t mask his amazement that the club had failed in their appeal over striker Alex Wall’s red card against Wrexham, writes Mike Simmonds.

Town had tried to get the severity of the ban reduced from three matches, but it was rejected by the FA as Wall missed last night’s game with Dartford and will sit out the home clash with Lincoln and trip to Woking.

Still said: “I haven’t really got anything to say, I’ve got to be honest.

People who made that decision, that’s what they see. Me personally, my honest opinion, never in a million years, that’s my opinion.

“But other people make the decisions, they’ve decided three games, but never, ever, ever, ever, in a million years is that a sending off.”

Still also reiterated that the decision had been made for the original challenge by Wall on Red Dragons defender Neil Ashton and not for what was perceived to be a stamp by the Town striker in the aftermath,

He added: “There was no stamp, I spoke to the referee after the game, he said high boot, dangerous play.

“If I saw sendings off for high boots, particularly in the box when balls come in and people try overhead kicks, everyone will get sent off.

“I’ve never seen someone sent off for a high boot ever in my life. People that make those decisions decide it was then it is, but for me, never in a million years is it a sending off, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.”
