Experienced Hatters boss John Still has admitted he would have loved to have drawn a Football League team at home in Sunday’s FA Cup first round draw, writes Mark Wood.

Instead Luton were handed a tough trip to Skrill Premier rivals Welling United.

But Still admitted there was no point fretting over something he has no control over.

He said: “It would have been nice at home to play a Football League team, but as I say I don’t beat myself up about it.

“Years ago I used to go ‘I’d like to get them, I’d like get them’, I never ever got them.

“So I was always ended up disappointed, so I thought to myself, I’ve got to change that so I’m not going to worry about who I get now and I won’t be disappointed.

“So the draw came and I wasn’t disappointed.”

And while like every team Still would have much preferred a home draw he was philosophical over the tie.

He added: “I think whoever you are you would prefer to play at home. We were away to Woking and away to Welling.

“Lots of people ask the question, ‘are you happy with that?’

“You know what, it never bothers me because who you draw is who you draw.

“If you start sitting there trying to cherry pick who you’re going to play you’re going to drive yourself crazy.

“So I’m just. ‘who is it?’ Welling, OK, we’re going to play Welling.

“Away from home, a team from your own league, tough, as Woking was.

“It could have been better, could have been worse, so no problems for me at all.”
