First team coach Hakan Hayrettin has likened the 21-year-old to Rocky IV bad guy Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren and now the former Histon man is aiming to deliver a knockout punch on the pitch.

Stevenson said: “He wants me to get a bit more bite in my tackles, which is right.

“I stopped doing that as I was doing it a lot more last year. It’s something that’s in my game anyway, it’s just getting that confidence to do it week in week out.

“When it’s Luton you put that little bit more pressure on yourself to put in that performance and try and be as good as you can.”

Stevenson admitted he has found the step up difficult since joining Town from the league and felt his performance have been mixed to date.

Like all of Luton’s squad though. he pointed to the trip to Portugal as something that has benefited hugely.
