Stats almost the way to do it says Luton boss

Looking back on Saturday’s stats, Town boss Paul Buckle has admitted he is disappointed that his side were unable to dispose of Nuneaton Town at the first time of asking in the FA Cup, writes Mark Wood.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw means they will have to do it all over again at Liberty Way on Tuesday, November 13.

He said: “I think after going through the stats this morning, pass completion - there were a lot of good things the players did on Saturday.

“The one thing that we failed to do was go in front. We went a goal behind and it gave them something to hold on to.

“And as I said after the game that made it difficult for us.

“It made them even more stubborn behind the ball, but I think you saw when we did actually score, albeit quite late, we could probably have gone on and scored again.

“The gameplan next time, we will know a bit more about them, they’ll know a bit more about us and there’ll be all to play for.”

Despite the extra game, Buckle is confident his side can cope with their increasingly demanding fixture list.

He added: “I think the players are fit and strong, I think they’re enjoying every training session and every game and we really enjoy each other’s company.

“It’s a great place to be. Right now I’ve got a strong group, they are very much together on and off the field and we look forward to every game.

“It’s a good feel about the place. We’re disappointed to draw, but at the same time the FA Cup throws up some shocks and surprises and I’m just glad we weren’t one of them on Saturday.”
