Stannard ready to get his teeth into new youth post at Kenilworth Road

HAVING helped to produce one of the hottest properties in British football in the shape of Matty Phillips while at Wycombe Wanderers, new Hatters academy operations manager Matt Stannard is hoping to help take Town’s youth programme to the next level, writes Mark Wood.

Following the departure of former head of youth Gregg Broughton, the former Chairboys coach has taken charge of the day-to-day operations of Luton’s Academy.

Scotland international Phillips, 21, has shone for Blackpool following his move from Wanderers and Luton will be hoping Stannard can have a similar impact at Kenilworth Road.

He said: “I’m very excited to be joining a club with such a big reputation for producing players.”
