Southport spat is history for Brabin and Kissock

During the 3-3 draw at his former club, the 22-year-old had a touchline bust-up with his boss after being substituted and found himself jettisoned from the squad for the next league match.

But the pair appear to have buried the hatchet as Kissock has started two out of the last three games, including the FA Trophy win over Gateshead at the weekend.

Speaking for the first time about the incident, he said: “I was disappointed with myself. The manager has been absolutely brilliant with me, supported me and I felt like I let him down that day.

“I was just frustrated, I felt I could have played on. I let myself down and the manager, who has been so good with me, he pulled me to the side and advised me.

“He’s really great like that, he’s got fantastic man management and doesn’t hold a grudge.

“I let him down and he’s forgiven me which is great of him.”

Brabin continued: “He’s a good kid at heart and I don’t hold grudges as long as people are willing to move on and buy in to what we want to do and JP is certainly one of those.”
