The midfielder broke his leg in two places during the 2-1 win at Barnet, but has been left stunned with the amount of goodwill shown to him via Twitter and other means.

He tweeted: “Just received a stack of get well soon cards.

“I’ve read every one and they are all up in my house. I’m very touched by all the support and messages and be sure the recovery is well under way. Once again thank you so much.

“The support I’ve received is amazing which I will never forget.

“I’m very touched by it all and feel very proud to be apart of this amazing club!”

The Bobbers Travel Club also raised money to help Smith through his spell out of action by sending him vouchers to use online to buy DVDs and games.

Smith tweeted the Bobbers Twitter account: “Thank you sooooooo much for the cards and vouchers.

“Me and my family are very touched to read all those comments.”

It is hoped that Smith will be able to pay Kenilworth Road a visit during the coming weeks.
