Shaw sets 20-goal target after strike

TARGET man Jon Shaw has his eyes set on another 20-goal season after finally netting his first goal in a Luton shirt in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over League One Leyton Orient, writes Mark Wood.

A hernia operation followed by a calf niggle has limited his chances this pre-season, but having finally made his debut in Wednesday’s goalless draw at Brackley, it took him just two minutes to open his account against the Os after coming off the bench at half-time.

On his targets for the forthcoming season, the 28-year-old summer signing from Gateshead who netted 35 times last season, said: “I always start with 20 goals. Obviously coming here I don’t feel I’m coming here to be a bit-part player. I feel I’m coming here and I want to be a focal point.

“I want to come here and play and I want to score. But as a forward you set yourself a 20-goal target and if you get to it brilliant and every goal after that is a bonus.”
