Scott is Town’s Mr Cool at penalties

Calm, cool and collected striker Scott Rendell revealed he didn’t feel the nerves as he stroked home Luton’s winning penalty as they triumphed 2-1 at Forest Green Rovers., writes Mark Wood

It was the 26-year-old’s second straight success from the spot this season after Stuart Fleetwood had thumped the bar the week before, and his composure from the spot is a massive boost for the Hatters who have struggled from 12 yards in recent seasons.

He said: “I assumed I was on penalties because I took the first one. I think the boys were happy with that.

“And obviously with me not playing last week made it easy for Fleets to try and pick the ball up I’m not sure he will be doing it again for a while.

“But it happens, people miss penalties it was just unfortunate, but like I say we won the game so it didn’t cost us.”
