With 30 minutes gone, the teenager was superbly picked out by Alex Lawless before beating goalkeeper Zac Hibbert from close range.

He said: “It goes without saying I’m delighted. It was my first goal in senior football, first goal for Luton Town and the season couldn’t have ended it on a bigger high.

“As the keeper had a shaky start, I tried to keep it low and hit it hard. I didn’t hit it very hard, but seemed to place it well enough and it just went over the line.”

Robinson’s strike drew Town level after an awful start in which they conceded during the opening minute to Sean Clancy’s well-placed header.

An Andre Gray brace eventually saw Luton run out comfortable winners though as the youngster continued: “When you go down early in the game, it’s just important you regroup and bounce back. We did that, we managed to take control of it after that.

“We got two in quick succession and then I think the game was ours and it was just a case of how many it was in the second half.”

Although the season is now over, after having a taste of regular first team football, Robinson will be do everything he can to stay in shape over the summer to hit the ground running next campaign.

He added: “Naturally, it’s a long season so you need a bit of rest. But as soon as you can get yourself back into the routine of training and keeping fit, the easier it is for when you hit pre-season and the actual season starts.

“I’m going to do my best to do that. I’ll give myself a little bit of a rest and have some time off, but when the times comes, I need to put it in.”
