The former Leicester City academy youngster had been dropped to the bench recently, but scored just moments after coming on against Chester FC on Saturday.

He then started in the 2-1 win at Grimsby Town in midweek, netting Hatters’ leveller from close range as Still said: “I’m delighted because he’s a smashing kid.

“He’s got a great attitude, is a good player and is going to be a very good player.

“He’s had to be patient and it’s been difficult for lots of players, that team was 27 games unbeaten.

“Sometimes you might not do so great for a game and people deserve to keep playing unless there’s a definite reason they’ve got to come out and I couldn’t find a definite reason to change some of the players.

“So Matt has been on the periphery a little bit, but he’s in there at the moment. He’s done very, very well and I didn’t doubt that he would.

“With young players, it’s important to give them an opportunity, but it’s important that they keep learning and you keep teaching them.

“He’s done very well and he’s in the side. If the side keeps going well, why would I change it? Lets hope he keeps doing well and he’ll have a decent run.”

Although Robinson impressed yet again during the victory on Tuesday night, Still felt there is more to learn, particularly on the defensive side of his game.

He added: You’ve got to have balance in the team and we had a little bit of fun with this, but it’s serious.

“There was about five minutes to go in the game the other night, and Pelly (Ruddock Mpanzu) was bursting through the middle.

“He’s a midfield player, that’s probably a job I want him to do. and Matt Robinson has gone running past him.

“I was saying, ‘no Matt stay here, we don’t need you to go up there at the moment, stay here with Cameron (McGeehan) and make sure we’re solid.’

“That’s youth, that’s exuberance, so those are the sort of things he’s got to learn.”
