Richards’ future with Hatters remains doubtful

The future of defender Garry Richards remains up in the air after he wasn’t awarded a squad number last week, writes Mike Simmonds.

His number four jersey went to Jonathan Smith as the centre-half, who joined on a two-year deal from Gillingham last season, continues to recover from injury.

Midfielder Danny Spiller was released last week and on Richards, Town boss John Still said: “The chances of Garry playing this season are not very high. We need to sit down and speak to Garry when he has his next assessment on his injury and go from there.”
