Richards confirms his retirement

The centre half left Kenilworth Road by mutual consent on Monday after failing to recover from a long-term injury.

Richards took to Twitter to say: “Very sad to announce that I have had to retire from professional football due to the complications from breaking my leg last year.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have showed their support over the years and wish all my previous employers all the very best in the years ahead!!

“Thanks also to all those that have invested their efforts in an attempt to be able to return.”
