The boss is reticent about taking on anyone purely temporarily unless in an emergency, but is open to bringing someone in with a view to a permanent deal.

Still had hinted he would have looked to bring someone else in if a deal for Scott Rendell hadn’t collapsed at the 11th-hour on transfer deadline day.

With the striker having joined Skrill Premier rivals Woking on loan last week, in addition to defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner moving to Alfreton Town on loan, there appears to be wiggle room in the Hatters’ budget.

Speaking after the 3-0 win over Dartford, Still said: “If I can do something that allows me to keep someone permanent then I’ll do it.

“It’s not quite working at the moment, so we’ll keep on working with it.”
