Proud Howells racks up 250 games for Hatters

Town midfielder Jake Howells was bursting with pride after making his 250th appearance for the club during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Gateshead, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 22-year-old, who joined the club from Watford, made his first team debut as a 77th minute substitute replacing Sol Davis in the 1-0 League One home defeat against Huddersfield in May 2008.

After reaching his landmark at the weekend, Howells said: “When I made my debut against Huddersfield in League One, to play 250 games for a team like Luton Town, I never thought I’d do it after.

“I’m honoured to play for the club that many times and hopefully there’s many more to come.”

Howells, who has now drawn level with John Dreyer in Town’s all-time appearance list reflected on what his highlights have been during his six-year spell with the Hatters.
