Preston snap up Hatters midfielder Keane

LONG-SERVING Hatters midfielder Keith Keane has agreed to join League One Preston North End on July 1 when his contract at Kenilworth Road runs out.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who came through the youth ranks with Luton, making over 250 appearances for the club, has become Preston manager Graham Westley’s 12th summer signing as the former Stevenage boss completely reshapes his squad at Deepdale.

North End’s chairman of football Peter Ridsdale said: “Keith has played over 250 career games and is still only 25-years old.

“He is known as a midfielder but he made his name as a right back and played there when Luton Town won promotion from League One to the Championship.

“He is a player who is very experienced and we are delighted to sign him. Graham has been tracking him for a while and he is a player he has always believed can do a job not just in League One but hopefully when we are promoted.”

Town have now lost both Keane and Curtis Osano to League clubs, while Dan Gleeson, Danny Crow, Shane Blackett, Ed Asafu-Adjaye, Charlie Henry and Christian Tavernier have all recently been released.
