Posh prove too powerful as understrength Hatters are swept aside

Ahead of the FA Youth Cup game against Stevenage tomorrow (Tuesday), boss Paul Driver used the game to take a look at a trialist and some U16 players, while also giving game time to players returning from injury.

After the game, he said: “We made too many silly mistakes on the ball and they punished us every time unfortunately.

“But, we got minutes into the legs of a couple of lads coming back from injury and the U16 lads will only gain from the experience at this level.”

Peterborough raced into a two-goal lead in the first quarter of an hour, but Jemale McKenzie-Lowe pulled one back with a close-range header.

However, two further goals from the visitors opened up a 4-1 half-time lead.

An excellently-worked goal, started and finished by Zane Banton, gave the Hatters youngsters hope but a strong Peterborough outfit added two goals in the last quarter of the game to seal victory.
