Penalty competition could decide Hatters next taker

A PENALTY shoot-out competition in training could decide who will assume Town’s spot-kick duties after they had a fourth-straight effort saved in the 5-1 defeat of Barrow on Saturday, writes Mark Wood.

Robbie Willmott became the latest player to have a penalty saved, following in the footsteps of team-mates Danny Crow, Jake Howells and Amari Morgan-Smith.

Netting from the spot proved a problem last season too, culminating in a penalty shoot-out defeat to AFC Wimbledon in the play-off final where Alex Lawless and Jason Walker both had attempts saved.

Willmott said: “I said in the warm down we should do a penalty shoot-out in training and whoever wins it should take penalties.

“Keano didn’t like it as he wants to take them so we should see what they are like!”
