The 21-year-old was viewed as a defender by boss John Still when he was snapped up from Southport.

But he was thrust into the centre of midfield alongside Jonathan Smith for his full debut at Kidderminster Harriers and barely put a foot wrong.

Parry said: “I’m a versatile player and I prefer probably centre mid.

“But if the manager wants me to do a job at centre-back or anywhere else, I’ll do it.

“I played in a variety of positions atSouthport last season, but would like to keep it as one this season.”

With Parry and Smith doing the majority of the donkey work in the middle, it allowed Luke Guttridge to push further forward, which worked perfectly.

Still admitted he had been impressed by Parry’s efforts in training and development games, so the former Blackburn trainee is now hoping to hold on to his place for this weekend’s televised home clash with Grimsby.
