The U’s, managed by former Town boss Richard Money, moved 10 points clear of Luton in fourth, after a 1-0 win at Grimsby Town on Tuesday night.

But Parry said: “You have a look at the table, but we don’t really worry.

“It’s a very long season, you’re going to go on runs and have bad results and good results, so it’s just a case of taking each game as it comes.”

Town stretched their unbeaten run to six games with a thrilling 3-3 draw at Aldershot on Tuesday night.

Leading 2-1 at one stage, Hatters gained a point thank to Shaun Whalley’s late penalty as Parry, who netted his first goal for the club, said: “There is a great spirit and great character here.

“It’s (Aldershot) a hard place to come, but there was good character from all the lads to come back and draw.

“It was frustrating to be behind, but all the lads know we can score. There’s now doubt that we weren’t thinking we’re going to lose the game, even if we are behind, we all believe we can go and win it.

Town’s defending was once again their weak point on the night, in sharp contrast to their early season solidity when they kept six clean sheets in eight games.

Parry added: “It’s one of those things lately. Hopefully we can stop that as soon as possible because we have been keeping clean sheets this season, and hopefully we can get another clean sheet this Saturday.

“It’s nice that we can score as well now, we weren’t shipping goals and not scoring, we’re doing both now, so hopefully we can eradicate all the goals conceded.

“We watch a video after each game and pick things out. When it’s an individual error, you know you’ve messed up, whether it be a chance on goal or a goal, so it’s just case of trying to eradicate them.”
