The summer signing from Southport returned to the starting line-up for Saturday’s 3-0 win over Chester, before not featuring during the match at Grimsby on Tuesday night.

Boss John Still said: “Andy Parry had this hernia operation and just found hismelf a bit stiff in the second half on Saturday.

“He’s had some injections and he’s not trained this week but will be able to get back into training next week.

“The three lads who played together (Matt Robinson, Cameron McGeehan and Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu) all did really well though.

“If we wanted to play off the front man we’ve got Luke Rooney, who is just trying to build his fitness levels up a little bit, and I’m sure by the end of the season, we’ll see lots of him.”

Town’s longest serving player Jake Howells also missed the 2-1 victory at Grimsby on Tuesday night, and Still felt that a few games rest will do him the world of good.

He added: “It was just a rest, Jake’s played and played recently.

“Alex Lawless has missed quite a bit of the season and is probably a little bit fresher.

“He’s played quite a lot of games consecutively has Jake and it was an opportunity to give him a rest.

“When you do find an opportunity someone can have a little bit of a blow, particularly in that wide postion when it’s up and down, it’s good to do.

“Andre (Gray) plays it different. He stays higher up the pitch, Jake’s up and back and I thought he looked like he needed it.

“He’s done fantastic and I just felt the rest would do him good.

“To have him ready for the last few games, have him fit and raring to go would be a plus.”
