Palace starlet Inniss makes perfect Hatters start with debut goal

Giant defender Ryan Inniss made a dream start to his Hatters career as he scored with his very first touch in Saturday’s 2-2 FA Trophy third round draw at Cambridge United, writes Mark Wood.

His fourth-minute header from Shaun Whalley’s free-kick gave Luton the lead, which Alex Wall doubled early in the second half, but the 18-year-old on-loan Crystal Palace defender was more concerned with the two goals Luton conceded in the space of a minute in the second half.

He said: “It was my first touch, but then as a defender I’m my biggest critic, so I’ll take a look at the two goals before I take a look at me goal I scored.

“I just wanted to settle in. I haven’t played a competitive game for two or three weeks and I just wanted to, not get through as such, but just do my job, and a goal is always a bonus, so I’m happy.”
