With the U’s the highest ranked team in the competition that Luton could have been drawn against, victory in the replay would be a major step towards a Wembley final.

The Crystal Palace youngster enthused: “I just want to get back on there and rectify the mistakes and we want to go and win that game because it’s great for the fans if we can get to Wembley and that is aim so we want to go and win that game.”

Town’s team on Saturday had seen 10 changes to the side that had played last time out at Lincoln City, with skipper Jake Howells being the only man to retain his place.

United, meanwhile, were forced to name a very strong side and Inniss felt inexperienced Hatters had been ‘more than a match’ for their opponents.

He said: “More than a match for them. No disrespect to Cambridge, I felt we should have won the game. It was down to us that gave the lead away.

“But with the fans behind us, and the strength of the squad we’ve got here, it doesn’t matter who we put out, we’re all fighting for the cause and we want to keep this run going.

“We want to bring it home and at Kenilworth Road I can’t wait to play, so it’s all down to us now to recover right and the manager will drill that into us and we should be raring to go Tuesday and hopefully give the fans a real good show.”

And Inniss believes they will be able to build on several key elements following Saturday’s promising performance.

He added: “We will be able to zone in on a few things. I think we were strong on set-pieces today.”
