Osano leaves Hatters to join up with Wombles

KENYAN full-back Curtis Osano has left Luton to sign for League Two AFC Wimbledon.

Having signed two short-term deals at Kenilworth Road the 25-year-old right-back has left Kenilworth Road to link up with former boss Terry Brown, who gave him his first taste of senior football during a loan spell at Aldershot Town in 2006.

Osano, who completed a medical on Monday morning, said: “Terry has known me since I was a kid and he knows what I am capable of.

“I learned a lot from him when I was at Aldershot. I spoke to Terry and he told me where the club is hoping to go. He told me that he knows what the problems were last season and he is trying to fix them next season.

“I think the club will progress and I want to be a part of it. Once I got my medical done I just wanted to sign as the chance to work again with Terry for a Football League team was too good to turn down.”

He made 32 appearances for the Town in the season just gone after he joined following the break-up of Rushden & Diamonds last summer.

Having initially struggled to nail down a starting place he grew in stature and his six-month deal was extended to the end of the season following some eye-catching displays.

Brown added: “I was very lucky to work with Curtis when he was an apprentice at Reading.

“He came in and played centre-back at the time, but since then he has developed into a good right-back.

“He is a beast of a boy, who has great power and strength and is a very good overall defender.

“Curtis will give us an outlet in that right-back spot as he is capable of bursting down the wing and I think he will be a great signing for the club.

“He is a boy who has played against us for Rushden and Jamie Stuart spoke incredibly highly of him.”
