Osano hopes to be part of a Luton title-winning side

DEFENDER Curtis Osano is hoping he will be part of the Luton squad that can win promotion from the Conference next season.

Although out of contract in the summer, the 25-year-old Kenyan has been a revelation in recent weeks and is hoping he will be able to right the wrongs from Wembley as Luton lost their second successive play-off final, 2-1, to old rivals York City.

He said: “If here next season, and after experiencing the highest point and lowest point at the same time in football, it’s hard to swallow.

“I can’t believe it’s happened against them (York) of all teams. If we’re here next season, we can’t go through this again.

“That’s the plan. He’s (Paul Buckle) come in and said from next season, he’s going to stop the mistakes we made.

“When they’re out of the system, hopefully we can push on to get there rather than go through the play-offs again. We can’t do that again.”

Hatters started off in stunning fashion with Andre Gray’s quickfire goal, and Osano thought they should have been able to go on and dominate from there.

He continued: “Scoring in the first two minutes we thought we could control the game the whole way through, but again simple mistakes have cost us the game – it’s been the story of most of the season really.

“We went out there to give our all and you can tell. Some of the boys got knocked out and gave everything in a game of football, which means we tried.

“We had a gameplan. Get the ball moving, get wide, and I thought we did that quite well. It’s just chances never came our way and they took their chances quite well.”

Although the winner when it came from Matty Blair should quite clearly have been disallowed for offside, Osano was gracious in defeat.

He added: “I’m hearing the boys talking saying the second goal was offside but we lost fair and square.

“A decision goes against you but you hold your hands up and say ‘OK not good enough’.

“We had some luck to get here in the first place but I thought we deserved to be here and should have got more out of the game.

“It’s just hard to take at the moment. Hopefully if we’re here for next season, we just can’t do this again.”
