O’Donnell blast for Town’s poor season

Town’s seventh place finish was a big disappointment for JJ O’Donnell as they failed to make the play-offs let along challenge for automatic promotion, writes Mark Wood.

Luton finished 13 points adrift of fifth place and were a huge 28 behind champions Mansfield as O’Donnell said: “All the boys know that this season hasn’t been good enough.

“If you look at the FA Cup it’s the biggest highlight of the season.

“We’d have happily gone out to Cambridge United in the fourth qualifying round to be top of the league. Ask any of the boys out there, it’s exactly what they’d say.

“It’s been frustrating and I understand the fans’ frustration. Throughout the season there have been times where it’s not been good enough.

“You know we’ve gone to places where we should be winning and we’ve not, we’ve drawn. If you want to be title contenders in this league you’ve got to grind out results.

“We know that as players and as individuals we’ve got to do better at that and hopefully next season it will all come together and we can win the league.”
