O’Connor has his mojo back after Town double

CONFIDENCE-FILLED striker Aaron O’Connor is delighted to have his mojo back after an indifferent start to life at Kenilworth Road, writes Mark Wood.

A hamstring problem impeded him as he struggled to make an impact following his summer move from Rushden & Diamonds, but O’Connor is now feeling rejuvenated after a string of good performances culminating in a two-goal haul during the 5-1 FA Cup defeat of Hendon on Saturday.

The 28-year-old attacker said: “It’s a confidence thing. For whatever reason I had a couple of bad games and that plays into your mind going into other games.

“I was carrying a few knocks but I wouldn’t put it down to injuries – that’s no excuse as I put high standards on myself.

“You have a good game and you go into the next game feeling confident.

“I’m going on to the pitch now confident I will play well and score so keep the games coming to be honest.”

Extra sessions before training with the club’s physios have helped ease his injury problems and now he is hoping to help power the Hatters to success this season.

He added: “I think that’s important and I feel a lot better from that.

“I’ve always in the past gone on good runs with goals.

“I’ve not been the type to get one here and one there. Hopefully this is the start of a good spell and I can keep it going for the rest of the season.

“Hopefully by the end of the season, league and cup, I can contribute 15 to 20, double figures and above.

“I think if you can contribute double figures in a successful season you’ve helped the team do something well.”
