Nicholls: Luton fans will be vital at Wembley

FORMER Town captain Kevin Nicholls believes the Luton supporters have a massive part to play during the club’s Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final against York City on Sunday, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 33-year-old was skipper at Wembley three years ago when 40,000 Hatters followers were in attendance to see him lift the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy after a 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United.

Town have sold out their 29,000 allocation for the match this weekend and Nicholls said: “I think fans are always important, whether it’s at Wembley, whether it’s away at Macclesfield, whether it’s at Kenilworth Road.

“They always gave me great support during the games, the hair used to stand up on the back of my neck and what they did for me, I did for them.

“You play for the shirt, play for the fans, play for yourself, play for your team-mates.”
