Murray: Hatters aren’t favourites this season

DEFENDER Freddie Murray doesn’t think his team should be burdened with the favourites tag for the Blue Square Bet Premier title this season, writes Mike Simmonds.

Town have been made joint 7/2 favourites with Fleetwood Town by Blue Square Bet, but with the likes of York and Stockport County flashing the cash, Murray thinks it is they who will be the teams to beat.

He said: “The league is going to be very difficult. I don’t think we’re going to be favourites.

“I think there are going to be teams who have spent more money than us, paying more money on wages.

“The bookies will probably have us favourites as we’re the biggest team in the division. You see Fleetwood signing (Richard) Brodie and (Andy) Mangan who won’t be on peanuts.”
